Why does my computer not show thunder5

My computer does not show the option to connect to thunder5

Hello!

Some computers, cellphones, and gaming systems do not have the required Dual Band network card or adapter. It could also be the setting of the device are configured to ignore the 5Ghz our Thunder5 WiFi network uses. Our standard recommendation is 802.11AC Dual Band. As this technology is standard on newer devices this issue has been less prevelant.

There is an easy workaround for older devices or older technology in laptops and desktop computers. An adapater from Amazon (or anywhere really) can allow the Thunder5 network to be visible and used. These can be purchased for around $15.00 online or some stores have them for cheap as well. 

Please contact the Help Desk and we can determine what equipment your device is using and some solutions. Or, since we are open 7AM to 9PM Monday through Friday during the school year, bring your computer by and we can provide the fastest service.
